It's an unfortunate fixture of Trooping the Colour :
the collapsed soldier.
An unidentified guard became the latest on
Saturday to lie face face down in the pink gravel of
Horse Guards Parade after collapsing under the
weight of the occasion.
Inevitably, despite hundreds of hours of training
and rehearsals and the support of colleagues
among the 1,500 soldiers around on parade at
Trooping the Colour, there is always at least one
who finds himself overcome.
Proving his mettle yet again was Prince Philip, who
kept his cool in his scarlet uniform and towering
bearskin hat – even at age 95 !
Despite the gray day – it was around 70 degrees –
observers believe it was one of the biggest crowds
for years – possibly since the Diamond Jubilee of
2012.
On Sunday the forecast is for more rain. The guests
at the Patron's Lunch picnic in the Mall may need
to get out the free ponchos they are being given.
