Ben Carson has the quintessential American Dream story. He brought himself up by his bootstraps, from a childhood plagued by dire poverty in Detroit, to become one of the world's most renowned surgeons. He's a Yale graduate and an accomplished author and public speaker.
Sounds great, but hold the phone. While Carson's inspiring personal story may win the hearts of the American people, he's been finding himself in hot water for blunt, over-the-top remarks on social issues like homosexuality and healthcare. His calm speaking demeanor and intelligence make him easy to listen to, but his lack of political experience and inaccurate knowledge concerning foreign policy are troubling to many.
