Google just added a fun new feature to Search… but we’re not sure why

Google unveiled its brand new logo earlier this week, and it hasn’t stopped rolling out new features ever since. We’ve seen new additions come to Google Now and Google’s Android search app, and Google Maps for iOS was updated with five nifty new features. Now, the fresh-faced Internet giant has rolled out yet another fun new feature to its flagship desktop search product… but we’re really not sure why.
It’s like Christmas in the summer each time Google adds unexpected new features to its Search product. Well, almost every time. Sometimes the company rolls out new features that aren’t exactly useful, though the hope is that they’ll eventually lead to something that is worthwhile.
Such is the case with Google’s new “I’m feeling curious” feature.
The feature can be accessed by typing “I’m feeling curious” or “fun facts” into the search box, and all it does is display a random fact in a search card on the results page. Click the “ask another question” button, and another random fact will pop up. In an annoying turn of events, you can’t actually ask a question, despite the presence of an “ask another question” button.
Google mines the web for all kinds of information, and we suppose this is just another way to present some of it, useless though it may be. Will this new “I’m feeling curious” feature eventually lead to something bigger and better? We can only hope.
