The AirPods delay perfectly illustrates Apple’s earbuds problem

From the moment Apple (AAPL) revealed its AirPods to the world last month, the company’s wireless earbud failed almost every sniff test. It has a giant $159 price tag. It needs a 15-minute rest every five hours to charge. Its sound is almost certainly worse than if the same earbuds used a wired connection. They look like ugly earrings. If one falls out, it doesn’t just dangle—it gets lost forever. You can’t use a splitter. But most of all, it’s a step away from elegant simplicity of something that just plain works.

And now, according to TechCrunch, the new AirPods are delayed.

When I was a kid, a pair of headphones I had stopped working, and my mom sent me to my grandfather down the road. He peeled back the rubber sleeve between the cord and tip, pointed to a broken solder joint, and bridged the gap with a piece of metal to show me the problem. Then we went downstairs and inside a minute he had fixed the headphones with his soldering iron, while he explained the simple mechanics of a speaker and an analog electrical signal, carrying so much information with so little.

Past the sentimentality, it speaks volumes that all the billions of headphones out there that can be understood and repaired by a little kid are facing assault—and potential extinction—by a earbuds so complicated that they require enough extra tinkering from engineers to delay a release date. As of October 27, the company has not set a new date.

Even before the delay—which carried no details besides the need for more time—the AirPods were doomed to an inauspicious start by their very existence. In the past, Apple has showed an ability to see deep into the future, past the short-termist critics, to what customers don’t even know they want. They play some chess.

But the iPhone 7 isn’t a paper-thin future phone, too slight to handle a beefy headphone tip. It’s a non-groundbreaking transitional phone hardly different from 2014’s 6S. Taking it off this early without meaningful innovation was user-hostile and not necessary for waterproofness.

At the end of the day, the AirPods fail a tech-version of Occam’s razor: Given two equal scenarios, discard the more complex one. You’d never have a delay with something as simple, functional and well-thought out with a well-made headphone.

Mariah Carey and James Packer's Breakup turning sour

Mariah Carey and James Packer‘s breakup is turning into a battle of he-said she-said.

Earlier on Thursday, multiple sources confirmed to PEOPLE the engaged couple recently called it quits. A rep for Carey told Entertainment Tonight their relationship went south during a Greece vacation last month, and a source close to the singer told PEOPLE Carey pulled the plug after Packer failed to be “present for Mariah or her family.”

However, a rep for Packer tells PEOPLE claims Carey was the one who called it quits because of Packer’s mental state and behavior are “simply untrue.”

“James has not been in a mentally healthy place. His behavior was not a desirable situation for Mariah so she unfortunately had to leave him,” said the close Carey source.

According to a source close to the billionaire businessman, however, it’s “typical Mariah to just twist things that don’t sound good to her. They split because she has issues. James is definitely an oddball, but a brilliant great guy. To put her issues on James is ridiculous.”

And though sources previously told PEOPLE the two (who got engaged in January) could possibly reunite down the line, the Packer source insists they “definitely won’t be getting back together now.”

The first guy Steve Jobs ever fired at Apple ... and he wasn't even an employee

Michael Geary has been a programmer living in Silicon Valley since before the world called it Silicon Valley. And he's got some incredible stories to tell.
For instance, he's pretty convinced he was the first person ever fired by Steve Jobs.
He was living in Palo Alto in 1976 and shopping in a health food store.
"I was a scraggly looking hippie and I ran into this guy at produce. He was a scraggly looking smelly hippie. I just introduced myself and it turned out we
both into computers," Geary said.
Jobs told him he just started a company called Apple Computer, and the name comes from "byte" as in "take a byte out of the apple, ha, ha," Geary recalled. (A byte is computer storage term.)
"He and Woz were literally working on the Apple 1, literally just the two of them," and he mentioned he needed someone to do some programming for him.
"He needed a disassembler for the 6502 chip," Geary said.
A disassembler is a computer program that translates the chip's language into assembly language. A 6502 were for a new kind of computer, very small ones, not huge mainframes. Geary was
working at company doing programming on mainframes.
Back in those days, it was really expensive to buy computer chips to write programs for them. But it was possible to fake having a real chip by using a software program called an emulator, which pretended to be the chip. Geary had access to a mainframe and an emulator at work, so he told
Jobs, "I can do that."
Geary went home and started to write the disassembler code.
"Steve called me back a few days later and said 'this dissembler, this is a for a microprocessor.
Your work is all with mainframes. They are nothing alike. All you know is mainframes, forget this whole thing,' " Geary recalls.
"When we hung up, I was pretty disappointed. Then I thought, 'Who is this guy telling me I can’t program? I’ll show him. I’ll write a partial proof of
concept and I’ll visit him and show him the code,'" Geary said.
So he dug up the address to Apple Computer and showed up, with no appointment. It turned out to be the address of an answering service. Jobs and Woz were still working in the garage. In those days, a garage startup wasn't considered a very reputable office.
"I said to myself, these guys are flakes! They are never going to make it. And I turned around and walked back out the door," Geary said.
And he was obviously wrong.
Years later, Geary got asked to do a short contract job at Apple (working on an email client called Diplomat) but the signing of the contract was stalled. And at another health food store, this one
in Los Gatos, California, he once again ran into Steve Jobs.
Geary approached Jobs again, and they had a laugh about the first time they met. Geary didn't tell him that he wrote the program. Instead, he nudged him to sign the contract. On the following Monday
it was signed, though Geary didn't interact with Jobs after that.
In fact, Geary didn't see him again for many years.
By that time, Jobs was ill.
They were at a restaurant in Menlo Park, California, and Geary was at the next table.
"He looked like he vaguely recognized me. I didn’t want to interrupt. I should have said hello. I should have told him I did write that program. I didn’t have quite the guts to talk to him at that point," he said.
Jobs passed away a short time later.
"In the back of my mind, I'll always regret not talking to him that night," Geary said.

Jay Z Says He 'Misses The Old Kanye' Following West's Recent Rant

Roc-A-Fella co-founder Kareem “Biggs” Burke revealed as much following Kanye West’s surprising rant against his idol last week. Kanye blasted Jay for not personally visiting him after wife Kim Kardashian got robbed in Paris , for never setting up a playdate with their
kids, and for Tidal politics preventing him from linking up with Drake, an Apple Music artist.
“I was shocked to hear what Kanye said onstage,”
Burke told Page Six at his Reasonable Doubt 20th anniversary pop-up shop on Saturday. “There was never anything rumbling . . . so when you hear these things in public, it’s a little shocking.”
Page Six‘s source previously said Jay Z couldn’t “stand” Kanye because of his crazy personality and that the mogul can only tolerate the rapper in “small doses.” While Burke doesn’t go as far to
confirm the source, he does highlight a change in Kanye’s personality that Jay Z isn’t at all fond of, telling the publication, “I’m not sure about the relationship at this point. I spoke to Jay [after Kanye’s rant] and we’re both just like, ‘We miss the old Kanye.’”
Burke went on to note that both men are too old to be rap beefing and that Kanye may have just been in his feelings at the time anyway. “[Kanye] is usually really honest. So it sounds like something
he’s going through right now,” Burke added. “He may [say] something like that, and then three weeks later he may be back to, ‘That’s my brother.'”
That sounds pretty accurate from what we’ve seen from Kanye in the past. In the meantime, both men can just go ahead, pop in that College Dropout and
think about the good ol’ days.

How to connect your smartphone or tablet to a PS4

Sony’s PlayStation mobile app
feels like a natural extension of the console itself, however, given much of the functionality you can find on your television screen is also accessible
from your smartphone or tablet.
Using the app is as simple as signing in to an existing PSN account and exploring. Once done, you can browse PlayStation profiles, compare trophies, and purchase content from directly within the app, which will then automatically download to your console as long as it’s active or in Standby
Mode. The app lacks some functionality — messaging has been moved to a standalone app, for instance — but it remains a worthwhile companion for PS4 owners.
That said, here’s how to pair the app with your console.
Step 1: Download the PlayStation app
Before downloading the PlayStation application for iOS or Android , you’ll want to update your smartphone or tablet to the latest version of the
operating system. For iOS users, you’ll want at least version 6.0, while Android users will need version 4.0 at the very least. Once updated, head over to either iTunes or Google Play and enter
“PlayStation” in the search field to locate the app.
Tap the Install button to begin downloading the app to your smartphone or tablet as you would
normally, and launch it once installed. You’ll be prompted to sign in to your PSN account, which you’ll need to do. After signing in, you’ll have access to most of the app’s features, including
Events, live streams, and the PlayStation Store.
Step 2: Sync your smartphone or tablet with your PS4
To begin the syncing process, tap the Connect to PS4 button in the bottom-left corner of the PlayStation application and select the Second Screen option. From there, you’ll want to choose
your console from the network. Once you select it, a code should appear on your TV screen. Type it into the text field on your smartphone or tablet, select
Register, and voilà, your devices will begin syncing.
Step 3: Use the app
With your smartphone or tablet now synced to your PS4, you have access to a wide range of features.
The most impacting difference you’ll notice once your phone and console are linked? Several PS4 games, such as Metal Gear Solid V and Watch Dogs, feature companion functionality you can use while gaming.
The Battlefield 4 app, for instance, provides access to your PSN friends and your multiplayer stats, and even lets you customize your weapons and character loadouts on your mobile device. The
PlayStation App did once provide access to a messaging service, but communicating with friends and enemies has been relocated to the
PlayStation Messages App, which is also free and available on both Android and iOS. Happy gaming!

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte denies mocking Manchester United

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has refuted suggestions that he tried to
"humiliate" Jose Mourinho during the 4-0 win over Manchester United .
Mourinho exchanged heated words with Conte at the final whistle at Stamford Bridge, with Sky Sports reporting that the Portuguese coach was unhappy
with Conte's attempts to encourage the home fans to make more noise with the score at 4-0.
The 53-year-old is reported to have told Conte in Italian: "You don't celebrate like that at 4-0. You can do it at 1-0, otherwise it's humiliating for us."
Speaking after his team's comprehensive win, Conte refused to divulge what Mourinho told him at the final whistle but insisted that his actions were not disrespectful.
"I was a football player, so I know how to behave on the pitch. I have great respect for everyone," he was reported as saying.
"There were United fans who kept singing, while ours were in silence after a great performance from my team. I wanted to call the crowd to applaud the
players, which seems normal enough to me.
"Nothing happened with Jose, especially as my behaviour seemed normal. I didn't make fun of anyone, as I always demand respect.
"If you want to cut the emotions, we can stay at home and I will change jobs. I did something absolutely normal. I didn't do anything to humiliate Mourinho."
Goals from Pedro, Gary Cahill, Eden Hazard and N'Golo Kante handed Mourinho's heaviest ever Premier League defeat on his first appearance back at Stamford Bridge since being sacked as Chelsea boss last December.
The defeat was also United's biggest in the league since losing 6-1 to Manchester City in 2011.
Mourinho declined to elaborate on his verbal exchange with Conte in the post-match press conference.
"You know me: I spoke to Conte, not to you," the United manager was reported as saying by the Guardian .
"I'm not the kind of guy to come here and share with you things I don't want to share. What is between me and Antonio is for us... of up to him to talk if he wants to. That is his problem. I have no comment."

THE MARVEL VILLAIN MARK RUFFALO AUDITIONED TO PLAY BEFORE HE WAS CAST AS THE HULK

Mark Ruffalo is now known to movie fans far and wide as The Incredible Hulk. However, it was very nearly the second comic book role he played, though he lost out in his bid to play the first. Previously, he auditioned to play Doctor
Doom in The Fantastic Four. No, not in the 2005 version starring his Avengers co-star Chris Evans , but rather the infamous 1994 version which was directed by B-movie legend Roger
Corman .
When Fox scored the right to The Fantastic Four, the deal with Marvel required the studio to make a movie within a particular time period, or else
the rights would revert back to Marvel. By the mid-1990s the studio wasn't really ready to make a Fantastic Four movie yet, but they didn't want to lose the rights, so they hired Roger Corman to direct a Fantastic Four movie on a
shoestring budget. The point wasn't to make money, or even release it, it was all a business decision in order to hold onto the film rights.
A documentary has been released which tells the story of the infamous film and Yahoo reports that it details that a young Mark Ruffalo actually auditioned to play the part of Doctor Doom.
Ruffalo would have been in his mid-20s around the time The Fantastic Four was filming.
Needless to say, he was not the name then that he is now. He only had a handful of credits to his name, and none of them were anything you're likely to have heard of.
The role of Doctor Doom eventually went to Joseph Culp, an actor probably best known for playing Don Draper's father on Mad Men .
Nobody involved in Roger Corman's film really went on to stardom, it's probably a blessing that Mark Ruffalo wasn't cast.
To date, few people have actually seen Roger Corman's version of The Fantastic Four and it is generally agreed by those who have that it's pretty terrible. The only reason to actually watch it would be to see just how bad it is. Although, considering the quality of the actual theatrical releases that the property has seen, there's an
argument to be made that Corman actually made the best Fantastic Four movie so far. It had to have been better that the most recent endeavor .

A dozen iOS 10 feature gems that Apple forgot to mention

Last month, when Apple released iOS 10 the latest system software for the iPhone/iPad, it made a big deal out of the major features, like a redesigned Music app and contextual predictions in
Autocorrect.
But Apple’s engineer elves worked for a year to overhaul iOS 10, and they’ve planted lots of hidden gems.
Take a picture—fast
The tiny camera icon in the lower-right corner of the Lock screen—for quick access to the Camera app—is gone. In iOS 10, getting to the point of taking a photo is even faster. Click the Home
button to wake the phone—and then swipe left anywhere on the screen. In under a second, you’re ready to take a photo.
Collaborative Notes
You and your buddies can now edit a page in Notes simultaneously, wirelessly, across the internet.
Fantastic for planning an event, building a wish list, working together on a little brainstorming document, and so on.
Open the Notes app. Find the page you want to share, and then tap the round Person icon at the top. You’re asked to share the page using any of the usual methods: by message, email, AirDrop, and so on.
Once your colleague accepts your invite, you’ll briefly see yellow highlighting appear on the note to indicate where that person is making changes.
New magnifier
Oh man, this is great: You can triple-click the Home button to turn the iPhone into the world’s best electronic magnifying glass. Perfect for dim
restaurants, tiny type on packages, and theater programs. You can zoom in, turn on the flashlight, tweak the contrast —the works.
To set this up, open Settings -> General ->
Accessibility -> Magnifier, and proceed.
Color blindness filter
For the first time, the iPhone can help you if you’re color-blind. The Color Accommodations now lets you turn on special screen modes that substitute
colors you can see for colors you can’t.
To set this up, open Settings -> General -> Accessibility -> Color Accommodations -> Display Filters, and turn on the kind of color-blindness you have (red/green, for example).
The phone’s colors may now look funny to other people, but you should have an easier time picking out the colors when it counts.
Eliminate the click
You can get an extra efficiency when it comes to waking up your phone by eliminating the requirement to click the Home button.
Instead, you can just touch your finger to it. That wakes the phone and unlocks it in a single motion.
To find this feature, open Settings -> General -> Accessibility -> Home Button. Turn on “Rest finger to open.”
That’s all there is to it.
Control center trix
You know the Control Center? It’s that half-page of essential settings controls that opens when you swipe upward from the bottom of the screen.
If you have an iPhone 6s, 6s Plus, 7 or 7 Plus, iOS 10 lets you hold your finger down on some of the icons to produce shortcut menus. The Flashlight now lets you choose from three different brightness levels. The Timer button offers presets for 1 minute, 5 minutes, 20 minutes, and so on. The Camera button offers Take Photo, Record Slo-mo, Record Video, and Take Selfie. That kind of thing.
Photos movies
In iOS 10, the new Photos app introduces Memories: beautiful, automatic, musical slideshows made of all the pix and videos from a certain trip
or weekend. Most people are pleasantly surprised at how coherent and well-created these are, even though they’re totally automatic.
Open Photos; at the bottom, tap Memories. There they are. You can tap one to play it; you can also adjust the musical style, the length, and even which photos and videos are in it.
And once you’re satisfied, you can share it or post it online.
Photos search
Photos’s Search box lets you find
images according to what they show. You can search your photos for “dog,” or “beach,” or whatever.
You can’t type anything you want—you have to choose a noun from one of Apple’s canned categories—but you can combine a noun search with, for example, a place search, making it much
easier to find a certain photo.
Well, at least when the gods are smiling. Apple’s image recognition software makes a lot of mistakes. But it’s off to a very handy start.
Photos people
The iOS 10 Photos app can now auto-group the people in your photos, using facial recognition—for example, all pictures of your mom appear in a
clump.
To see it at work, open Photos, tap Albums, and tap People. You can even drag your favorites into the top of the screen for quick access later.
Some of these features don’t work until iOS 10 has analyzed your photos, which can take at least a day (during which the phone has to be plugged into power).
Apple proudly points out that all of this analysis is done on your phone. (That’s in contrast to services like Google Photos, which offers similar features
but requires that Google access your photo library.)
Emergency Bypass
This new switch means “Let ringtones and vibrations play when this person calls, even when Do Not Disturb is turned on.” A million parents will now get better sleep at night.
To find it, open Contacts; find the important person’s card; tap Edit; tap Ringtone. There’s the Emergency Bypass setting, right at the top.
Delete the bloatware
For the first time, you can hide Apple’s starter apps on your Home screens (Watch, Home, Stocks, etc.), so you’re not saddled with the icons you never use. You can “delete” them just as you would any app:
Hold your finger down on one until the icons start wiggling, and then tap the X button. (You’re not actually deleting them—only hiding them. They still
occupy 150 megabytes.)
If you ever want one again, use the App Store to find it and “re-download” it. (You’re actually just un-hiding it.)
Bedtime-consistency management
Medical research tells us that sleep deprivation— and inconsistent sleep schedules—takes a terrible toll on our health, mood, and productivity. So iOS
10’s Clock app offers a new Bedtime tab. You answer a few questions about your sleep habits, and the app will attempt to keep your sleep regular —prompting you when it’s time to get ready for bed,
waking you at a consistent time, and keeping a graph of your sleep consistency.

Google Introduces Google Flight.

Google is making it easier for users to plan trips and book flights as well as hotels this holiday season. Google Flights will now update users when flights are likely to increase in price, and help find good hotel deals. “Google Flights can now help you be more confident that you’re booking your flight at the right time to get the best price,” said Nabil Naghdy, Product Manager of Google Flights, in a blogpost. Google Flights now show when specific airlines a user is interested in are expected to raise their prices on specific routes. Users first need to select a specific flight they want to book. A notification indicating when the fare is expected to rise and how much they can save on booking might appear next. Notification bar with tips to choose the best price for a specific route may appear if users are looking to book a certain route but haven't selected a specific airline. “Tips can include things like recommendations for alternate airports or dates,” Naghdy said.
Google Flights may also show tips on an expected price jump for that route. Users will need to click on the card to see more details such as how much the price is likely to increase and when. Google Flights will send notifications via e-mail to users who’ve are interested in booking a flight for a specific route but haven’t done so yet. They can enter the details like airlines, routes etc and Google Flights will send notifications related to the same. Fare expiration and expected price jump notifications feature will roll out in the coming weeks.
Google Flights will let users track and manage saved flights seamlessly on their smartphones as well. There’s an Explore option which will suggest ideas on destinations to visit based on the type of vacation a user is looking for.
Google Flights will now help users find more deals on hotels in a particular location, like “hotels in new york”. Now, if users want to find out hotel deals , they need to tap in the upper left to filter for Deals. Additionally, Google Flights will notify users when savings are available toloyalty members on a hotel’s website.

Box office hits and misses: ‘The Accountant’ files a winning weekend while ‘Max Steel’ rusts

The numbers added up to a big weekend for The Accountant, director Gavin O’Connor’s action thriller featuring Ben Affleck as a math savant who finds himself pursued by killers when one of his clients targets him for assassination.
Although the film earned mediocre reviews from professional critics, general audiences were far kinder to O’Connor’s film and gave it rave reviews
to go along with positive buzz that could help it stick around in theaters. Box-office pundits didn’t predict anything over $18 million for the film, so its
$24.7 million premiere is a welcome surprise for studio Warner Bros. Pictures and the film’s creative team.
The only other new release to rank in the
weekend’s domestic top ten was Kevin Hart’s stand-up comedy film What Now? The $11.9 million it earned was good for second place and narrowly edged out the thriller The Girl on the Train in its second week. The film’s debut also set
a new opening-weekend record for stand-up comedy movies, passing 2000’s The Original Kings of Comedy and its $11 million debut, as well as
Hart’s own 2013 film Let Me Explain , which had a $10 million opening weekend.
1. The Accountant $24.7M $24.7M $27.5M
2. Kevin Hart: What Now? $11.9M $11.9M $11.9M
3. The Girl on the Train $11.9M $46.5M $79.6M
4. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar
Children $8.9M $65.8M $196.7M
5. Deepwater Horizon $6.3M $49.3M $77M
6. Storks $5.6M $59.1M $130.7M
7. The Magnificent Seven $5.2M $84.8M $148.7M
8.Middle School: The Worst Years of my Life $4.2M $13.7M $13.8M
9. Sully $2.9M $118.3M $175.5M
10. The Birth of a Nation $2.7M $12.2M $12.2M
The rest of the weekend’s top ten films in U.S. theaters were all returning films, but there was some big news in the international box office, too. Ron Howard’s Inferno — the third film based on Dan Brown’s series of novels that began with The Da Vinci Code — raked in more than $50 million overseas ahead of its domestic debut. The film won’t arrive in U.S. theaters for another two weeks, but it’s already well on its way to a good run with its international box-office earnings.
Back in the U.S., however, Open Road Films’ Max Steel movie, based on the popular Mattel toy line, didn’t fare so well with a meager $2.1 million
opening weekend. The sci-fi adventure performed dismally in theaters and didn’t earn a positive response from critics or audiences, so its time on the big screen is likely to be limited.

Olympic Sprinter Tyson Gay's 15- Year-Old Daughter Dies from Crossfire in Shootout: 'She Didn't Make It'

The 15-year-old daughter of American, Olympic sprinter Tyson Gay was fatally shot at a Kentucky restaurant early Sunday morning, according to reports.
Police reportedly responded to the Lexington restaurant on a call of shots fired at around 4.a.m, police said.
Tyson’s daughter, Trinity Gay, was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the neck and later died.
“She didn't make it. I'm so confused. She was just here last week for fall break. It's so crazy. I have no idea what happened,” Tyson told Lex 18 .
Police said that two cars exchanged gunfire and they don’t believe Trinity was an intended target.
Lexington police are still investigating the case and said they are questioning people of interest, according to reports.
Trinity, like her father, was a track star at her Kentucky high school. She was a state runner-up in the 100 meters in middle school. She also was the
Region 6AAA champion in the 200 meters last spring.
Fayette County Public Schools Superintendent Emmanuel Caulk also released a statement regarding Trinity's death.
"Our hearts are broken this morning over the loss of Trinity to this tragic and senseless act of violence,"
said Caulk. Please join us in keeping the Gay family close in thought and prayer and supporting the students, staff, and families at Lafayette High during this unspeakably difficult time."

Dog Masterminds Escape from an Animal Shelter, Breaks Out Through Three Separate Doors

A German Shepherd pulled an “El Chapo” when she escaped out of a California animal shelter through three sets of doors.
The two-year-old dog, Ginger, was brought into the Apple Valley Animal Shelter last Saturday because her
homeless owner could no longer take care of her.
“Her previous owner didn’t want her to live out of a vehicle,” Gina Whiteside told InsideEdition.com “It was a very difficult thing for him.”
Ginger was determined, however, not to be trapped.
That afternoon she jumped over and out of her six-foot kennel and managed to open three closed doors, in what Whiteside said she thinks was an attempt for the pup to get back to her owner.
Ginger quickly set motion sensor alarms off in the building and animal control was called to investigate but by that time, she was already gone. She made sure to make an exit too, jumping on chairs and counter tops in the lobby before her departure.
“When the animal control officer came, he noticed that the front counter phones were all over the floor and papers as well,” said Whiteside. “It looked like
someone trashed the front area.”
Three days later Ginger turned up a few blocks away from her previous owner’s house and was taken back to the shelter. She’s now in a much more secure space at the shelter.

The truth behind Anthony Martial’s problems under Mourinho for Manchester United

It has been a life-changing last 14 months for Anthony Martial. On his journey from young talent with Monaco to mega-money Manchester United
superstar, the 20-year-old has experienced a number of highlights as well as difficulties the like of which few will ever witness.
This time last year he was United’s great hope, having come off a streak of four goals in his first four games following a transfer from Ligue 1 which may eventually cost the club over 58 million
pounds ($71M). Having seen his price tag grab so much attention, he quickly made his quality apparent as Louis van Gaal’s side began to rely on his ability in front of goal.
It was the kind of form which earned Martial a call- up to the France national team, but his break-out performance against Germany in November was
quickly overshadowed by the Paris terror attacks which had targeted the game itself. For a 19-year- old of any description, this was unchartered territory.
Back in Manchester, things started to change for Martial. Not only did he find his opportunities as a lone striker reduced under Van Gaal, he also found
his private life was of public interest too. When his partner Samantha Jacquelinet mistook the Emirates Stadium for Old Trafford in an Instagram post, it made news across the world. The 20th birthday cake she had made for him depicting Martial at a more accurate Old Trafford also grabbed attention.
His first season at United proved to be mixed, with FA Cup glory offset by failure to reach the Champions League, but his 17 goals in 48 appearances saw him finish top of the club’s scoring charts. It was form which saw him secure a
spot in Didier Deschamps’ Euro 2016 squad, but again there was disappointment as France lost the home final to Portugal.
In all Anthony Martial's main drop in form have been attributed to a lot of things including that his girlfriend and him are no longer together and all other uncorroborated reports but sincerely I hope the lad returns to form.

Shailene Woodley Released From Jail

Shailene Woodley’s rep has confirmed to People that the actress was released from jail on Monday after being arrested for criminal trespassing during a peaceful protest against the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline in Bismarck. Shailene, who
streamed the protest and her arrest on Facebook Live, was arrested along with 27 others. The video has since been viewed more than 3.3 million times.
According to her rep, Shailene was released from the Morton County Jail in North Dakota: “She appreciates the outpouring of support, not only for
her, but more importantly, for the continued fight against the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline.”
As the Facebook Live shows, the group of protestors followed orders after being told to leave the area because they were trespassing. When Shailene got to her RV, she found police waiting for her. “I’m being arrested,” she says during the last

had surrounded and waiting for me with giant guns in the giant truck behind them just so they could arrest me.”

Amber Heard's Mera, Aquaman's Butt-Kicking Queen, Surfaces in New 'Justice League' Art

Today, we got our initial look at Amber Heard in character courtesy of a photo taken by director Zack Snyder and provided to IGN along with some striking concept art and sketches by the film’s
costume designer, Michael Wilkinson.
This is the first we’ve seen Heard in a film role since her tabloid-dominating divorce from Johnny Depp earlier this year.
For those unfamiliar with the character, Mera has long been a part of the Atlantis power structure.
Introduced in Aquaman No. 11 in 1963, she was
largely a supporting player for much of her existence. But Mera turned out to have a champion in DC’s chief creative officer Geoff Johns. Johns plucked the character out of DC purgatory for a
lead role in 2009’s Blackest Night storyline, in which the undersea queen helps save the DC Universe. In the years since, she has become a fixture in the comics, ruling alongside Aquaman as
an equal.

BMW presents its self-balancing motorcycle of the future

The motorcycle of the future is so safe riders can cruise without helmet -- all of
the thrills with none of the danger -- according to BMW.
The German automaker unveiled on Tuesday its Motorrad Vision Next 100, a sleek, self-balancing prototype the company released as part of its 100th anniversary celebrations.
The zero-emissions bike has self-balancing wheels designed to stand upright even at a complete stop,
stability that the company says will allow riders to forgo riding a helmet.
"Its self-balancing system will help protect the rider at any time," said Edgar Heinrich, the design director of BMW's motorcycle division. "Any late reaction from the driver will trigger and the vehicle will balance out."
"In the future, motorcycle riders will be able to enjoy riding without protective gear."
The world's top maker of luxury vehicles has also premiered this year a futuristic BMW sports car with a flexible body, as well as a self-driving Rolls-Royce and an electric Mini model.
Company representatives said that riding without a helmet remains a fantasy for now, though.
Many countries mandate the protective gear and self-balancing technology is still in the developmental stage -- if the latest concept vehicle becomes a reality, it likely won't be before 2030.
Despite its contemporary features the bike will not be fully autonomous, the company said.
"We do not envision autonomy on motorcycles," said Heinrich, as the driverless autopilot system has faced global scrutiny following fatal crashes in
northern China in January and in the US state of Florida in May.
In September, a Tesla electric car crashed into a tourist bus on a motorway in northern Germany, after the driver who was the only one slightly
injured claimed he had activated the autopilot system.
BMW aims to commercialize fully autonomous vehicles by 2021, a company spokesman told AFP.
The Munich-based group has been collaborating with US computer chip giant Intel and the Israeli technology firm Mobileye to develop self-driving
cars.
Last year, the Munich-based group also joined forces with its German rivals Daimler and Audi, the luxury subsidiary of Volkswagen, to buy the Here digital mapping service from Nokia to assist in the effort.

The founder of CrossFit credits his success to one simple secret

Greg Glassman is the founder and CEO of a rapidly growing fitness company with millions of fanatical customers. To hear him tell it, though, he is merely the caretaker of one of the great wonders of the world.
He compares CrossFit, his business, to the "natural process" that created the Grand Canyon. His contribution? "We didn't f--- it up."
As he told CNBC at the Iconic conference in Boston, "We are the stewards of something fairly spontaneous."
Glassman isn't just a businessman. In his mind, he's delivering "a profound metabolic truth" about diet and exercise to a fat, sedentary, disease-ridden
population.
The 60-year old former gymnast started training individuals throughout the 1970s, and in 1995, he opened his first gym. Less than two decades later,
there are 13,546 active affiliates in 144 different countries operating their own franchise gyms, called "boxes." There are around four million CrossFit athletes, as best as Glassman can guess.
Headquartered in Santa Cruz, California, CrossFit champions as a panacea an intense regimen of physical training combined with a high protein, low
carb diet. Lifting monster truck tires overhead and cutting out sugar could, to hear Glassman tell it, all but cure the human race.
His evangelical approach to fitness and dieting has earned its fair share of critics. But Glassman is unfazed. He didn't invent weightlifting or what has
been popularized as the Paleo diet; rather, Glassman says, in packaging and selling them together as CrossFit, he is a Moses figure, attracting and shepherding those who were lost.
If Glassman can take any credit for the rapid growth of the CrossFit empire, he says, it's that he has largely avoided making mistakes out of greed.
"I had amazing success as an entrepreneur showing restraint against the opportunities that appear, not that are real, but that appear around this movement," says Glassman. CrossFit has avoided putting its name on related consumer products, even when the product would potentially be attractive to CrossFit athletes.

Snake got it's head stuck in a beer can.

Snakes have it tough. They don't have legs and sometimes their body is just the right size to get stuck in weird places.

Reptile handlers Tania Dowsett and Craig Bergman were called to an incident in rural Victoria, Australia, to help a snake whose head got trapped inside a beer can.

A member of the public called the professionals in upon finding the insanely-venomous red belly black snake.

Even when cloaked in a beer can, these snakes have a decidedly fatal bite.

Heavy rain across the southern state of Victoria has seen an increase in slithery reptile sightings.

Snake handler Craig Bergman, who was called in to help this boozey fella, told The Riverina Herald, "The threat is pretty big this year as the rain has chased a lot of them out."

The snake was rescued from its beer prison and released back into the wild to party responsibly another day.

Selena Gomez seen in public for the first time since music break

Selena Gomez has been spotted in public for the first time since announcing her plan to take a break from the spotlight.

According to photos and video tweeted from a Selena fan account, the 24-year-old greeted admirers at a Texas Roadhouse restaurant in Tennessee on Saturday. Dressed casually in a long-sleeved top, black skinny jeans and a New York Yankees baseball cap, Selena posed for multiple selfies with patrons and waitstaff.

The snaps ignited a "#SelenaIsBackParty" hashtag across social media, as fans shared enthusiasm for her return.

As previously reported, Selena's sighting comes weeks after the singer revealed she was stepping away from the public eye to cope with "anxiety, panic attacks and depression."

In a statement released to Access Hollywood in August, the pop superstar said the conditions were side effects of her battle with lupus and explained why she chose to tackle her recovery in private.
"I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off," she said at the time.

"I need to face this head on to ensure I am doing everything possible to be my best. I know I am not alone by sharing this, I hope others will be encouraged to address their own issues," she added.

Selena's "Revival" world tour was scheduled to run through December. As of Saturday, her Twitter and Instagram accounts have remained inactive since August.

Apple App store new feature. Does it deserve the kudos or the knocks?

Smartphones had existed for more than a decade before the iPhone was released in 2007. Apps existed for more than a decade before the App Store rolled out a year later. But the iPhone changed the way people used their smartphones and the App Store made expanding their capabilities far simpler than it had been in the past. But Apple's on-device app portal has had a big problem since the early days that Apple hasn't been able to find a solution for. The company has finally rolled out a big change that we've all been expected, but it's not yet clear whether Apple helped matters or hurt them.

Finding good apps in the App Store is not easy. In fact, depending on what type of app you're looking for, it can be next to impossible. The popularity of third-party apps created an entirely new industry and developers swarmed to it. Of course, not all of those developers are interested in or even capable of making high-quality apps. As a result, Apple's App Store quickly became flooded with content that made finding all of the high-quality apps in the store extremely difficult.

Things have improved recently, but there is no perfect solution. To this day you can often search the exact name of an app you're looking for and still not find it without having to scroll past a dozen or more other apps. Just now, a search for "Twitter" yielded two apps in the first 15 results that haven't even been updated for the new user interface Apple introduced in 2013 with iOS 7. While Apple continues its work to fix the issue, the company also continues to work on better monetizing the App Store. And so this week, as VentureBeat notes, the company began rolling out its new search ads product.

Developers are now able to purchase ads that will display at the top of results when users search for specific terms. Although people's knee-jerk reaction is to resist anything that involves advertising, this actually could end up being a good thing.

App Store ads thus far in these early days have been mixed as a flock of developers rushes to try them out. In the long term though, Apple's new ad platform could theoretically end up being a good thing if it's utilized by top developers who build high-quality apps and can afford to spend more on advertising.

Wolverine 3 Image Revealed and a SHOCKING confirmation!

Recently, we learned a great deal about Wolverine 3 thanks to director James Mangold releasing an image of the script's second page. We know that the film is set much later in the life of the character. He's older and his powers are not what they once were. As such, he's turned to alcohol to dull the pain. So first, we learned that Wolverine is in a bad way. Today we discover that Professor Charles Xavier isn't doing much better. He's looking pretty bad here. Certainly, much of this is simply his age. However, some additional details that have come out have described the Professor as unstable.

Ever since it was announced that Patrick Stewart would be part of the last Wolverine film we've wondered exactly what his role would be. While the image doesn't give us any hints toward answering that question, it does make us wonder if Hugh Jackman won't be the only one saying goodbye to his famous role when the movie is over. With the Professor X role apparently in the capable hands of James McAvoy within the current X-Men time-line, there's no specific need for Patrick Stewart going forward, and if Professor X were to pass away by the end of this movie, we wouldn't be shocked.

The description of Professor X as unstable makes it sound like it isn't simply his body that's breaking down here, but his mind as well. If that's the case, he may not be much help to Wolverine in the story. However, we're assuming there's a reason he's in the film, so we may need to wait and see what that is.

In addition to learning a bit about the way the new film opens, we also learned that the title of the film is Logan. While the Logan name is the one most associated with Wolverine, we'd guess that even fans who have seen all the movies would have difficulty remembering that Logan was the name he went by. There's nothing about the name Logan that would tell viewers by itself that it's the name of a Wolverine 3. It would appear to be a possible call out to the Old Man Logan graphic novel, from which the new movie reportedly takes its inspiration, if not its plot.

Whatever the movie is called, we're certainly looking forward to seeing both Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart take on these great roles once again. Logan hits theaters March 3, 2017.

How much the game of Thrones stars earn!

The Game of Thrones cast get paid more per episode than we do in 20 years and frankly, we need a drink.

In a survey conducted by Variety, the salaries of the highest-paid actors on TV have been unveiled, with the wealthy stars of HBO’s fantasy epic very high up in the drama category.

Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister), Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister), Kit Harington (Jon Snow), Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) make a somewhat sickening grand total of $500,000 per episode.

Yes, per episode. Typical that the three Lannisters are raking in the most cash, huh?
Tyrion, Cersei, Jon, Daenerys and Jaime are seen as the biggest stars of the show by HBO, which explains why they make the most cash-but does it mean they’re going to make it to the end?

Just last month, Sansa Stark actress Sophie Turner revealed a Game of Thrones shocker when she said more people will die in season seven.
“We’ve got one more season… well, not all of us,” Sophie explained. Alexander Siddig, the actor who played Doran Martell, has also said that he was pissed about his character randomly getting killed.

Though it seems he’s not receiving the $500,000 pay cheque per episode, as Siddig added: “You don’t earn as much as you would if you were doing another show, because they’re Game of Thrones, and they don’t have to pay anyone. So it’s kind of a blessing in disguise.”

Game of Thrones will return to HBO in summer 2017, later than its usual April launch.

I woke up seeing an hotel maid stroking my arm - Andy Murray

British tennis player Andy Murray has revealed how he once woke up to a maid stroking his arm at a hotel while on tour.

Murray, the world No 2 who is currently competing in the China Open in Beijing, told the story as part of an interview with the International Premier Tennis League.

“At one of the tournaments that I played, there was a maid in the hotel,” the 29-year-old said.

“I had the do not disturb sign up on the door and she came in and sat on my bed and started stroking my arm at about seven in the morning when I was still sleeping.

“She then turned up at a couple more tournaments in the hotels that I was playing at in Rotterdam and Barcelona. That’s a bit extreme, but that happened.”

Murray is due to face Konstantin Kravchuk or Andrey Kuznetsov in the second round of the China Open, after beating Italian Andreas Seppi on Tuesday.

The Wimbledon and Olympic champion could come up against Kyle Edmund in the quarter-final.

Employees who owns an iPhone 7 asked to resign by a company.

Did you get fired from your job after showing off your iPhone 7 around the office? I’d certainly hope not, but there is at least one company in China that is threatening similar action against employees that decide Apple’s latest smartphone is the one for them.

The Nanyang Yongkang Medicine Company, located in the Henan province, sent out a memo to staff explicitly telling staff not to buy the iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus. Those that ignored the directive were told they should simply resign, according to the BBC’s translation of the document, which had been shared extensively on Chinese social media.

There’s always a chance extreme messages like this are fake, or have been misinterpreted, but the company has verified the document. A local news outlet that spoke to the firm said the memo came from the chairman, but wasn’t a rally against the iPhone specifically. It was instead about promoting spending time and money on family, rather than an expensive smartphone. However, no-one has resigned or been fired for owning an iPhone 7 yet.

A hospital in China has also taken an anti-iPhone stance, and banned workers from buying the iPhone 7. While it’s not threatening anyone’s job, it does say Apple fans with an iPhone 7 in their hand won’t get a good appraisal in the future, may miss out on pay increases, and will be advised to return the device. It was a response to a member of the hospital’s team that had spent three months wages on an iPhone 7.
Again, like Nanyang Yongkang Medicine, this wasn’t really about the iPhone itself, but its cost. The manager told the BBC its company stood for diligence and frugality, and borrowing money or even selling organs to fund the purchase of an iPhone 7 didn’t fit in with this thinking. The iPhone 7 starts at the equivalent of $800 in China, and the iPhone 7 Plus from $960.

Apple isn’t having an easy time in China at the moment. It’s apparently now the fifth most popular smartphone manufacturer with a market share of 7 percent, down from over 9 percent this time last year, and behind Huawei, Oppo, Vivo, and Xiaomi — all of which are Chinese. Apple is doing its best to win approval in China, with major investments there including stock in local ride-sharing platform Didi Chuxing, and building a new research and development facility that will be completed by the end of the year.

An iPhone explodes after another in a fortnight.

There are plenty of reasons why a phone would explode. In the case of the Galaxy Note 7, a manufacturing flaw was responsible. Battery age and physical damage can also result in batteries blowing up and phones catching fire.

The iPhone isn’t spared either. In a matter of days, we saw an iPhone 7 explode, an iPhone 7 Plus’s battery bulge up without causing a fire, and an iPhone 6 Plus going up in flames during class. Now, it’s an iPhone 6s that has exploded.

A reader told Phone Arena that he was out with some friends when all of a sudden his iPhone 6s caught on fire. The phone was sitting in his back pocket, burned through his jeans and caused second-degree burns on the left side of his body and on his left index finger.

The person was treated in the emergency room, according to his claims. The iPhone apparently exploded after business hours, so he contacted Apple about it the next day. He is hoping that Apple replaces his phone.

The iPhone appears to be torn apart, but that’s about everything one can say about it since it's completely unclear from the photo what happened to the phone. It’s also unclear what caused the explosion at this time. An investigation will surely follow, as Apple will want to know why the phone allegedly exploded.

Google releases trademark phones (Pixel and Pixel XL).

Google has produced its own Android-based phones for years under the “Nexus” brand. But on Tuesday, the company announced it would design its own smartphones, the Pixel and Pixel XL, which borrow their names from Google’s longstanding tablet and laptop products.

The Pixel and Pixel XL are the first-ever to come with Google Assistant built in, have unlimited cloud storage, and are compatible with the company’s new virtual reality headset, Daydream. Google also claims the camera on its new phones has “the shortest capture time on any mobile camera ever.”

Available for preorder today in black, blue and silver for $649 to start, the Pixel and Pixel XL sport 5-inch and 5.5-inch displays respectively, powered by Snapdragon 821 processors and 4GB of RAM. The Pixel and Pixel XL will be available from Verizon exclusively in the U.S.

Also on-board: 32GB or 128GB of internal storage, a 2770mAh battery for the Pixel and a 3450mAh battery for the Pixel XL with a polished aluminum case paired with a small glass pane on the back. There’s also a subtle wedge from top to bottom where the hand naturally grips it, supposedly to make it easier to hold. A 12-megapixel rear-facing camera with a feature called HDR+, enables the Pixel to capture significantly more light than other cameras, the company claims.

For those wondering, the Pixel and Pixel XL also sport the traditional 3.5 mm headphone jack, a longstanding feature on many smartphones that became controversial when Apple decided to omit it with the iPhone 7.

“And there’s no unsightly camera bump,” added Rick Osterloh, senior vice president of hardware, a none-too-subtle dig at Apple’s (AAPL) iPhone line.
Google also emphasized the Pixel’s software, which it built (and refined) from the ground up. Indeed, Osterloh highlighted five key points for the Pixel phones:

Google Assistant

When they launch, Pixel and Pixel XL will be the first smartphones to come with Google Assistant built in. When you touch and hold the home button, Google Assistant “jumps into action.” The A.I.-driven feature can bring up specific photos from the past and play whatever music you ask it to play. It even takes restaurant reservations with voice commands.

That camera

According to Google, the Pixel and Pixel XL rear camera score an 89 in DxOMark — the highest rating ever. Translation: These could very well be the best smartphone cameras on the market today, trumping even the iPhone. There’s also video stabilization on board, however there’s no optical image stabilization for still photos.

Communications

Pixel users will be getting the latest Android updates directly from Google as soon as they become available. This is one of the biggest pain points with Android, and Google is stressing its lead in this category. Google has also built in 24-hour live phone support right into the Pixel’s software, so that a tech support operator can check out what’s on your screen and help you better. The Pixel comes with Google Duo preinstalled, if you’ve been jonesing for the company’s video chat app.

Unlimited cloud storage

Impressively, Google will also allow free unlimited storage for full-resolution images and videos shot with the Pixel. That’s much like the standard Google Photos backup ability, but takes off the size limit, even on 4K video shot with the new phone.

Virtual reality

The Pixel and Pixel XL are the first Daydream-compatible smartphones, which will work with the just-announced Daydream View headset. The Daydream View comes bundled with a tiny motion controller that is so precise you can even draw with it. When you’re done, the controller simply tucks inside the Daydream View itself for safe storage.
