Our first official look at Benedict Cumberbatch as Marvel’s ‘Doctor Strange’

There are going to be plenty of Marvel films worth keeping tabs on over the next several years, but Doctor Strange is personally at the top of my list. And it’s not because Doctor Strange is one of my favorite Marvelcharacters, but rather because I know so little about him (aside from his involvement in the latest arc of the Avengers and New Avengers comics).
On Monday, we finally learned a bit more about the Sorcerer Supreme’s movie.
In what has become an increasingly common phenomenon, we get our first official look at Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange via anEntertainment Weekly exclusive. In fact, the movie only began principal photography in November, which means that this was one of the first times Cumberbatch had ever donned the costume.
The actor said that he used the photo shoot as a chance to practice his spell casting as well:“I’m still in the infancy of learning all that. It was like, okay, I’ve got to keep throwing these poses, these spells, these rune-casting things, everything he does physically. I’m thinking, there’s going to be a huge amount of speculation and intrigue over the positioning of that finger as opposed to it being there, or there. And I’m still working on that. We haven’t played any of those scenes yet. I felt really self-conscious. But, then, by the end, it was great. It’s like anything, you just have to experiment.”
EW was also able to reveal within its cover story that Hannibal’s Mads Mikkelsen will play the main villain in the film and that Rachel McAdams will be “a fellow surgeon that has a history with Strange and is his sort of lynchpin to his old life, once he steps into he role of a sorcerer,” according to producer Kevin Feige.

Justin Bieber Brings Bikini-Clad Hailey Baldwin on Family Vacation

Justin Bieber gave a friendly, shirtless reminder to his Instagram followers on Monday that he’s also posting pics to Snapchat. The pop star then started sharing family photos from his beach vacation that also included his model pal, Hailey Baldwin.
“Follow me on snapchat my username is rickthesizzler,” he captioned a shirtless selfie. Bieber then posted the same pic to Snapchat, writing: “You bet your bottom dollar.”
Baldwin seemed to fit right in with her friend’s family. “Sandcastlekings,” Bieber Instagrammed a pic of himself and the 19-year-old with his younger siblings and friends.
He also posted a few pics on Snapchat of a bikini-clad Baldwin playing with his younger brother, Jaxon.

Harry Styles is on vacation in Miami! The One Direction member was apparently caught dining at a local Miami Beach restaurant recently.
The One Direction singer spent the first night of his vacation, after arriving on Saturday, December 26th, dining at The Forge in Miami Beach. Him and a group of friends headed over to the private wine cellar room for dinner. How fun!
Harry is reportedly in the area for a wedding, be sure to be on the lookout for him if you live in Miami!
We are so thrilled that Harry is enjoying some much needed time off and wish him the best of time in Miami Beach! He was also sweet enough to wish fans a happy holiday before his visit to Miami.

How have you lived without knowing these awesome Google search tricks?

Given how much time I spend scouring the web for interesting things to write about, I stumble across a lot of interesting Google search tricks. Because of this, I decided to compile a list of some of the best tips and tricks that I’ve learned from Google recently to help you further master the world’s most powerful search engine. Without further ado, here are some of the best Google search tricks I’ve discovered over the past year.

Turn your phone into a level with one simple search

If you do a search for “bubble level” in a mobile browser, Google will bring up a graphic of a green bubble that will tilt depending on the angle you’re holding your phone. I’ve so far got this to successfully work in the mobile versions of Chrome and Safari, although it likely works in other mobile browsers as well. At any rate, this is a handy little search trick for anyone working on a home improvement project who doesn’t have a level handy.

Find out the exact day of the week in a certain number of days

Ever wonder what the exact day of the week it will be on a certain date? Now you don’t have to open up your calendar — instead, just ask Google “what day is it in 143 days” and you’ll be informed that it will be a Friday. Or ask “what day is it in 243 days” and you’ll be told it’s a Sunday. Or if you want to go even farther into the future, Google will let you know that it will be a Thursday 2,543 days from now.

Learn a random piece of cool information by typing two tiny words

Type “fun facts” into Google (but be sure to just type the words without quotation marks), and you’ll be given a random fun fact at the top of the page, as well as a box that gives you the option to ask another question. If you do click on the box, it will indeed bring you more interesting factoids, including what kind of wood the Mona Lisa was painted on, how deep the Grand Canyon is in meters, and the number of different scents your nose can remember. The possibilities are limitless.

ARE SELENA GOMEZ AND NIALL HORAN DATING?

The two performers were spotted together in LA on Friday night.

The rumor mill continues to spin for Selena Gomez and Niall Horan, who were         spotted kissing at Jenna Dewan-Tatum's birthday party on Friday in LA. "Niall and Selena were seen kissing in the middle of the club, in front of everyone," a source told Us Weekly. They even left the party together.
After Selena Gomez and One Direction's Niall Horan were spotted together during  sushi dinner in Malibu, rumors—and fans' hopes—began circulating around their relationship status. Gomez and Horan enjoyed dinner with Horan's One Directionbandmate Liam Payne last week after the two ran into each other at an AMAs after party. However, a source told Us Weekly that the artists are just friends, and have been for quite some time.
Gomez's love life has been pretty low key since her split from Justin Bieber in early 2013. Horan and Gomez were seen together just days after Bieber and Gomez had a night out at a karaoke bar in California.

SCIENTISTS CREATE THE SUPERMAN OF METALS

A group of scientists say they have created the Superman of metals, a material so strong and lightweight it could lead to the creation of faster vehicles and revolutionize the airline and automotive industries.
Engineers at the University of California, Los Angeles, used a combination of ceramic silicon carbide nanoparticles and magnesium. The new metal boasts a stiffness-to-weight ratio that far surpasses other strong metals that engineers have reliably used for generations. The metal is also capable of absorbing and withstanding high heat without having its integrity altered.
Nanoparticles are a tiny speck of any material, just 1 to 100 nanometer in size, or a billionth of a meter—which is barely visible to the naked eye. When the material is scaled down to such a small size, its physical and chemical properties change. In this case, the silicon carbide  nanoparticles were infused into a molten magnesium zinc. Silicon carbide is the hard ceramic material used for cutting blades. This “nanocomposite” metal is made up of approximately 14 percent silicon carbide and 86 percent magnesium by weight.
“It's been proposed that nanoparticles could really enhance the strength of metals without damaging their plasticity, especially light metals like magnesium,” said Xiaochun Li, a professor of manufacturing and engineering at UCLA, in a press statement. “But no groups have been able to disperse ceramic nanoparticles in molten metals until now.”
Magnesium is available in large quantities, meaning it would be easy to produce the material without damage to the environment. It is considered a type of load-bearing metal that is already used to make cars, albeit a weaker version.

Scientists have discovered how your brain wakes you up

The smells of coffee and breakfast foods have long been credited for rousing even the sleepiest of heads out of their beds, but now, scientists believe they have a more concise and, well, scientific explanation for how your brain actually wakes up your body. New research from the University of Bern suggests the discovery of “a mechanism which is responsible for the rapid arousal from sleep and anesthesia in the brain.” Scientists believe that their findings may give way to “new strategies for the medical treatment of sleep disorders and recovery of consciousness in vegetative states.” Given the ubiquity of sleep disorders the world over, Professor Antoine Adamantidis and his team are thrilled by the potential implications their work carries. Along with fellow researcher Carolina Gutierrez Herrera, Adamantidis’ team “identified a new circuit in the brain of mice whose activation causes rapid wakefulness while its inhibition deepens sleep.” When they stimulated this newly found circuit, located between hypothalamus and thalamus, they found that they could terminate light sleep. Using a technique known as optogenetics, which has been utilized quite frequently in neural research as of late, researchers determined that the circuit could serve as a “new therapeutic target for sleep disorders.”“This is [an] exciting discovery since therapeutic approaches to recover from a vegetative or minimally conscious state are quite limited,” Adamantidis said. He and Herrera believe that their work may lead to breakthroughs permitting more precise treatment of sleep disorders. Moreover, the team might be able to create a method for bringing patients out of minimally conscious states. Still, Adamantidis notes, there’s plenty of work yet to be done in the field. “Even though we made an important step forward now, it will take some time before novel therapeutic strategies will be designed based on our results,” he said.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Is Making Christmas Day Box Office History

The Force Awakens is breaking one box office record after another. It's hard keeping track of them all!

The latest record that the new Star Wars film can claim is the biggest Christmas Day gross of all time. THR reports that The Force Awakens will pocket $35 million-$40 million on Christmas. That easily surpasses the previous record of $24.6M held by Guy Ritchie's 2009 film Sherlock Holmes starring Robert Downey Jr.
Last weekend, The Force Awakens took the opening weekend box office record away from Jurassic World with $247.9M -- $39M more than the previous record. And now The Force Awakens is eyeing Jurassic World'sbiggest second weekend record of $106M. That record should fall as The Force Awakens is expected to gross $120M.
Meanwhile on Christmas Day: Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg's comedyDaddy's Home will take second-place with $10M, David O. Russell and Jennifer Lawrence's Joy will earn $7M+, Will Smith's Concussion is projected to take in $4M, and Alcon Entertainment's Point Break will scoop up $3M.

This one app could solve your most frustrating home Wi-Fi problems

So you’ve just set up your home Wi-Fi network but for some reason you’re having trouble getting your PC to connect to the network. It could very well be that you’ve set up your computer in a Wi-Fi “dead spot” that makes connecting to the web very difficult. However, CNET brings our attention to a free Mac app called NetSpot that can give you a visual depiction of the places in your house where you’re least likely to get a strong Wi-Fi signal.
For this app to work, you’ll need to have a floor plan or area map that you can load onto the app’s network survey system. After you identify your location on the map, the app will then scan for Wi-Fi signal strength. You can then move around the area to scan all the major locations where you might try to set up a computer or other web-connected device. The app will then produce a map showing you the strength of your Wi-Fi signal in various locations that looks like this:

All told, this seems like a really cool app that can help you plan out your home Wi-Fi setup and help you troubleshoot problems with your wireless connections.

Caitlyn Jenner Is Getting Another Grandchild - Find Out Who's Expecting!

Caitlyn Jenner’s family is getting bigger!
The 66-year-old former Olympian has another grandson on the way, after her son, Burt Jenner, 37, announced that he and his wife are expecting on Instagram Thursday, writing, “I promised to wait until we had the "all healthy” update , and we got it yesterday… My Lil boy, just chillin… So happy I can’t see straight, he can’t get here fast enough… Who wants to fab me a stroller with @kingshocks and @gladiatortires like you see at the 1000 every year?.“
In addition to Saint West earlier this month, Caitlyn received a grandchild from her son, Brandon Jenner, when Eva James was born in July.
In October, Burt revealed how he and Caitlyn have bonded "more now than ever” in the wake of her transition.
“There’s been some trade-offs, I’ll admit that,” Burt told Australia’s Today show. “But she is a better person. Honesty is always the building block for any relationship, and at least we have that now.”
Burt’s baby announcement is obviously good news on this Christmas Eve, a day that Caitlyn is already so high on due to Kris Jenner’s holiday soiree.

Rick Ross Responds To 50 Cent’s Lawsuit Via Twitter Rant

Another day, another plot in the ongoing Rick Ross-50 Cent feud.
After Fif filed a $2 Million lawsuit against Rick Ross for using his hit song “In Da Club” on Ross’ #RenzelRemixes mixtape, the Black Market rapper took to Twitter Thursday night (December 24) to subliminally respond to the latest issue in their tumultuous relationship.

In a statement sent to Billboard, 50 Cent’s publicist said the lawsuit was filed to protect the Queens rapper’s reputation.
“50 Cent’s most valuable asset is the name and reputation he has painstakingly built through his Grammy-winning music, acting, and business endeavors,” said Paul LiCalsi, partner and co-chair of the Entertainment and Media Litigation Group at Robins Kaplan LLP. “He chooses his projects carefully for the very purpose of protecting that name and reputation.”
The statement continues by saying the Power executive producer alleges Ross used the 2003 song without his permission and should be held responsible.
“Our complaint alleges that Rick Ross has taken these without permission to advertise his own album, and violated 50 Cent’s rights in the process, and we believe he should be held liable,” LiCalsi notes.
No telling when or if this feud will come to an end.

Samsung’s unreleased Galaxy S7 may have just been revealed in leaked photos

Reports out of South Korea earlier this week suggested that Samsung is preparing for 2016 smartphone shipments that sink by about 12% compared to 2015. If this new leak is accurate, it’s fairly easy to see why Samsung is prepping for a decline in sales. While Apple managed to increase its September-quarter shipments when launching an “S” upgrade this year, which looks exactly like last year’s iPhone but includes internal component upgrades, Samsung may not be able to pull off the same feat — it appears as though next year’s Galaxy S7 may feature the exact same design as 2015’s Galaxy S6.
A seller on online electronics wholesale website DHGate.com has listed what it claims to be cases designed for Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S7, which is expected to be unveiled in the first quarter of 2016. The images alongside the listing show a rugged “Armor Defender” case that isn’t really anything special. Inside the case, however, are images of a smartphone that may be Samsung’s unreleased Galaxy S7.
Case makers often get their hands on early schematics and other smartphone imagery long before handsets are announced so that they can design their cases ahead of time and have them ready when popular new phones launch. That said, these particular images are not confirmed to be authentic — and since they show a phone with no notable design changes at all compared to this year’s model, we can only hope they’re not genuine.

Stephen Amell Threatens To Break Stardust's Face Again If Slammy Is Not Returned

Stephen Amell's feud with the WWE Superstar Stardust continues.  The Arrow star had harsh words for the WWE wrestler on Twitter yesterday after Stardust stole Amell's Slammy Award during this week's Monday Night Raw.
Amell won the Slammy for "Best Celebrity Moment" for months long feud with Stardust, which culminated in a tag team match at Summerslam.  At the heart of the feud was Stardust (whose wrestling persona is that of a comic book supervillain) treating Amell as if he were actually his television alter ego Green Arrow. Amell won the match with the help of fellow WWE Superstar Neville (who won his own Slammy for Breakout Star of the Year).  While Amell emerged the victor of that match, he and Stardust have continued to trade occasional barbs on Twitter and it appears the two will come to blows again.
If Amell and Stardust do wrestle once again, it's likely the match will be part of WWE's upcoming Wrestlemania event, which will take place in April at Dallas's AT&T Stadium.  The WWE is expecting a record-setting attendance for its biggest event of the year and the feud would make for an exciting addition to the event's card.  If another Amell/Stardust is in the cards, expect Amell to make another appearance on Monday Night Rawsometime in the near future.

I would totally buy this ‘iPhone 7 Edge’ concept if Apple ever made it

We’re now in the official dead zone between a recent iPhone launch and the time when we start seeing leaks for the next-generation iPhone. That means it’s time for iPhone concept artists to let their imaginations run wild and build beautiful devices that will likely never see the light of day. The team at ConceptsiPhone has created a video showing off a design that it calls the “iPhone 7 Edge,” and as you can imagine it takes a few cues from Samsung’s beautiful Galaxy S6 edge.
As you can see in this screen shot, the device’s wraparound screen isn’t as obvious as the Galaxy S6 edge’s but it’s definitely noticeable and can be used for additional features the same way the S6 edge’s side display is:

The concept also flattens out the camera bump that some Apple fans have found unsightly in the iPhone 6 and 6s. Whether the larger round HTC One M8-like camera lens is really an improvement is open to debate, however:

From a specs perspective, the proposed device features a 5.5-inch curved 2K display, an A10 processor, 4GB of RAM, a 3,500mAh battery, surround speakers, a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. Even if Apple does create a device like the proposed “iPhone 7 Edge,” there’s no way it will include all these advanced hardware specs… but it’s still nice to dream.

Merry Christmas Everyone.

This is a season of Celebration and I would personally like to wish you all a very #Merry-Christmas.

Turn your smartphone into three interesting, ususual and useful tools

2015 recap: Your smartphone is a very versatile tool. Here are some interesting, unusual and useful things you can make it do.
Your smartphone is a very versatile tool that contains a huge amount of computational power. By using the right apps and augmenting the smartphone with other hardware you can make it do some very unusual things.

TURN YOUR SMARTPHONE INTO A TOOL TO DIAGNOSE CAR PROBLEMS

Got a 'Check Engine' light on your dash, staring at you? In the trade that's called 'the money light.' Wonder what it means? Wonder how much it will cost you to fix? Wonder if you can fix it yourself, if only you knew what it meant?
Enter BlueDriver, a professional quality vehicle scan tool that's simple to use.

TURN YOUR SMARTPHONE INTO A SATELLITE PHONE

The modern smartphone is a wonder of modern technology, and in combination with the carrier network can allow you to make calls from the densest urban jungle to Mount Everest. But despite the amazing global coverage of the carrier networks, sometimes it just isn't enough.
This is when you need to rely on satellite coverage. And believe it or not, you can add satellite capability to your existing iPhone or Android smartphone. Yes, that's right, you no longer need a dedicated satellite phone. What you need is a Thuraya SatSleeve.

TURN YOUR SMARTPHONE INTO A DEVICE THAT CAN DETECT SERIOUS HEART CONDITIONS IN YOU (OR YOUR PET)

A smartphone or tablet opens up a world of possibilities. You can take photos, control drones, make payments, and, if you're old-school, make calls and send messages. But here's something truly amazing that you can do with your iOS or Android device, and it'll only cost you as little as $75 - transform your device into a portable ECG heart monitor for you, your family and friends, or even your pet.

The device you need is the AliveCor heart monitor. This, when combined with the FDA-cleared app, can display ECG rhythms as well as being able to differentiate between a normal sinus rhythm and one showing atrial fibrillation (AF). All you do is place your fingers on the pads and the device does the rest.

Deadpool Gets A New Poster And Teaser Trailer

The 12 days of ‘Deadpool’ continue today with a new poster and teaser trailer.
Appearing on Twitter, ‘Deadpool’ star Ryan Reynolds revealed the official IMAX poster, which features the Merc With A Mouth alongside Colossus, Ajax, Copycat, Angel Dust, Negasonic Teenage Warhead, and even Marvel impresario, Stan Lee.
And that’s not all – there’s a rather awesome trailer, too.
“I’m having this poster injected directly into my bloodstream,” said Reynolds.
And we have to admit, it does look pretty awesome.
But for ‘Deadpool’ fans, the trailer really is the icing on the cake. Featuring a fouth-wall-breaking moment in a way only Deadpool himself could deliver, we’re treated to a glimpse of those infamous Chimichangas… as the Marvel mutant himself explains why IMAX is the superior way to watch ‘Deadpool’.
“Hi,” he says. “Deadpool here with an important public service announcement. This is your brain… actually, it’s a Chimichanga. But I’m making a point because thisis your brain on IMAX. Bigger is better, right?”
And while the poster features the tagline ‘size matters’, it’s clear that Deadpool’s marketing is aimed more towards the adult audience…
Although it features just a few short action clips, this new teaser highlights everything that we want to see in a ‘Deadpool’ movie… and with Ryan Reynolds inside the suit, it looks like it might just deliver.
‘Deadpool’ heads to UK cinemas on 10 February 2016.

Scientists say people with these facial features may get paid more

Your facial structure isn't something you can control, but employers may subconsciously use it to gauge your abilities.
When you first interview for a job or head into a salary negotiation, there's a lot that's under your control.
You can easily impress the person on the other side of the table by talking about your past achievements, ambitions for the future, and ability to lead a team to greatness.
Unfortunately, that person may be subconsciously relying on your facial structure — something you have little to no say over — for clues as to how much money you deserve.
According to new research, those whose faces convey the impression of trustworthiness and dominance may walk away with a higher salary.
Previous research has found that dominance is associated with "masculine" features, like a squared face, strong jawline, pronounced eyebrows, and thin eyes and lips. Trustworthiness is associated with "feminine" features like a round face, big eyes, small eyebrows, and full lips.
For the current study, cited by the Association for Psychological Science, researchers led by Laura Fruhen at the University of Western Australia recruited about 1,500 people to look at 100 photos of male and female faces.
Participants were asked to indicate how much they would pay the person in the photograph for the position of either retail manager or head of retail operations — the latter is a more senior position. For the position of retail manager, the pay range was about $36,000 to $43,655 per year; for that of head of retail operations, the range was about $125,000 to $134,000.
In an earlier experiment, another group of raters had evaluated the photos for attractiveness, dominance, and trustworthiness.
When the researchers analyzed all the findings, they saw that attractiveness mattered more for candidates for the retail manager position. Specifically, attractive candidates were awarded an additional $362.
Among candidates for the head of retail operations job, trustworthiness and dominance mattered more. Trustworthy-looking candidates were awarded about $419 more, while dominant-looking candidates received about $355 more.
In general, studies have found that people who look highly dominant tend to look less trustworthy. But the researchers told Business Insider that these traits independently predicted pay premiums. In other words, if you look highly dominant, you could get paid more, and if you look highly trustworthy, you could get paid more, too.
The biggest premium was given to male candidates who looked trustworthy. They received about $459 more.
In fact, the researchers found that over the course of a 40-year career, having desirable facial features could lead to an income advantage of between $11,000 and $26,000.
This study adds to a growing body of research suggesting that a person's physical appearance plays a big role in their professional success. For example, across industries, those who are prettythin, and tall earn higher salaries than average.
Unfortunately, just because someone's face looks trustworthy, dominant, or attractive — or just because they're tall and thin — doesn't mean they'll do a good job as an employee or a leader.
The researchers note that some appearance-based judgments are indeed accurate — for example, people are pretty good at determining how extroverted someone is based on looks alone. But others may be entirely off-base, so it's generally unwise to make decisions by relying on these evaluations.
On the other hand, the researchers say that people can choose LinkedIn photos that play up certain desirable features, depending on the position they're applying for. "Indeed," they write, "some individuals can, and will, use knowledge of appearance-driven biases to their strategic advantage in the workplace."
Bottom line: It's unfair for employers to judge your worth based on what you look like. But it happens more often than not, so try to use those biases to your advantage.

Drake Bell Arrested on Suspicion of DUI -- See His Mugshot

Drake Bell was arrested Monday on suspicion of driving under the influence in Glendale, California.
The 29-year-old former Nickelodeon star was pulled over at around 2 a.m. after police saw him swerving and speeding after abruptly stopping at a red light, Glendale police tell ET. Police say he also failed a field sobriety test, after an officer noticed the smell of alcohol coming from the car.
The actor/musician, best known for his role on Nickelodeon's Drake & Josh, has remained quiet so far about the incident on social media. Recently, he's been promoting his upcoming shows in Mexico scheduled for February, which he shared have sold out.
Interestingly enough, the outspoken Twitter user -- who apologized in June for what he called "insensitive" remarks about Caitlyn Jenner, and had been embroiled in a longtime feud with Justin Bieber -- mocked the "Sorry" singer's own DUI arrest last January.
Last month, ETonline broke the news that Bell will guest star on an upcoming episode of Fox's Grandfathered, where he'll be sharing scenes with his former Drake & Josh co-star, Josh Peck.
